I signed up to be a driver to see what it was like. Once the rider is in the car, the app tracks the fare and the ride-share.
Both people (the rider and driver) see the geolocation on the map and a small bio of the stranger they are about to meet in the car. A rider turns on the app, asks for a ride and uber drivers are ready to pick up the person. It’s technically a “socially enabled peer to peer ride sharing platform” and it enhances a taxi experience.
So there’s this new smartphone app that has kind of been around for awhile, but it’s just now taking off in our hometown, Tallahassee.
